About Us
Cream City Medical Society - Undergraduate Chapter (UG) is an affiliate
of Cream City Medical Society, (est. 1927) of Wisconsin. Cream City Medical Society (UG) was established in the fall of 2004.
Their focus is to address disparities among minorities within Milwaukee, WI. The name Cream City originated from a type of
cream colored brick that was once used to build the city of Milwaukee in the early 20th century. This type of brick
earned Milwaukee one of its earliest nicknames, "Cream City" This cream colored brick is unique in its strength,
beauty, and ability to weather any storm.
This inspired a group of African American physicians in 1927 to name their newly formed
organization the Cream City Medical Society (CCMS). Like the brick, the organization has weathered its share of storms in
Milwaukee, acting as a beacon of support and camaraderie for African American physicians practicing medicine in the face of
prejudice and discrimination.
Cream City Medical Society Undergraduate Chapter
shares the same struggles and dreams; however, giving the focused support to students on a pre-med level.
